The new exhibition at HFC consists of various science and arts creations, among them is Life with Bugs by Abigale Miller. I've never been comfortable with bugs in general, not even butterflies. There's three tras full of mealworms squiggling on the bed of oatmeal, pupae twitching from time to time and adult darkling beetles (from what I've seen so far) who like to climb on top of each other and cannot get back on its legs once flipped over (it's quite entertaining to see them trying to get back on their legs). Knowing they are enclosed in a secure case, I feel comfortable seeing them as days go by, but still, it creeps me out.

And then, I saw these.... beautifully preserved bugs under glass by Kevin Clarke. they are not too creepy after all.... probably because i know they are no longer living... but still....

"The idea for Bug Under Glass happened while Kevin was working among the 14 million insect specimens in the California Academy of Science’s entomology department. He was amazed by the extensive and incredible insect collections but disappointed this amazing collection was behind closed doors and the general public could not freely witness and learn about them.
