I am enjoying the Swedish sensation, Stieg Larsson's trilogy these days. On the second book now. I really like it and it reads fast, very engaging. I am addicted to it now, can't seem to put it down once I start reading..... but how people think of sex is a huge question mark for me. I won't spoil anything if anyone hasn't read the book, but really, there's lot of sex and violence in the series. It's intriguing, it felt as if I was watching an action/thriller movie as I flipped through the pages when I was reading the first book.... (my wild imaginations! lol). Let's just say, it opened a whole new level of things for me, not that it is something I will try or considering, but to read about it kind of makes me... blush? hahaha... I can't wait to see the movies. I am actually planning on seeing them all in a row once all three are out on dvd. Thanks to [Carly] for introducing me to the world of Swedish thriller and the books.

[Art&Ghosts]

Up until the age of seven, Art&Ghosts rather fancied that she was actually a small sycamore tree instead of real person. Upon discovering that this was not so, Art&Ghosts could not be consoled, however much her family sought to comfort her. After twenty or so years of growing and forgetting, Art&Ghosts has unwittingly endeavored upon a pilgrimage back to her roots (yes, roots), in an effort to reclaim her arboreal state, her reserved place in nature. -Northwest, UK [Louise Robinson]

Artists from Saskatchewan have shown excellent talents in the exhibition. I love it. It was a lot of work but the result is beauty. It was one crazy week to get the show up and running, but worth every sweat. A round of applause to all the hardworking staff and artists. It will be a great summer :-D

Vought's paper cuts are best viewed as an installation. Compared to the other paper artists I blogged, her papers carry significance as a group. I've worked with numbers of installation artists and I know how difficult and tedious it can be, installing something of this scale. I love the shadows the letters create on the white wall. It's amazing that she is using paper to make a drawing/writing. The installations (at least from photographs anyways) don't give away that it is created with paper at all. I've love to see her works at HFC gallery. It's fascinating and very engaging. Love it!

FINALLY!
After endless waiting on my 'back ordered' Canon EOS, I cancelled the order from futureshop and got D3000 instead from Black's. YAY! I am so excited! My photography days have just begun. SWEET!
and...

My first shot with my new camera.
While the battery was charging I went out to get a fresh new haircut!
Nice short hair for the hot hot summer ahead.
My head feels so light, I love it ♥

[Robert Ryan] papers vs prints

Looking at Robert Ryan's paper cutouts, I thought they resemble screen prints. Of course! he does screen printing at his cute little shop in London, UK as well. It's unfortunate it's so far away but he does have an [etsy] so the hope is still there.

Among many commissioned works, this paper dress for Vogue was by far my favourite. Very elegant.

some magazine reading in the hot afternoon.
