abby try again

nine [link]
I believe that eggs are some of nature's most beautiful treasures.
I think this would look lovely hanging up in a kitchen :)

spools [link]
I shot this photo with my vintage yashica camera.

rain boot [link]
Yes, it is true.
It does rain a lot in Portland.
But that's not always a bad thing. Luckily I have these cheery boots to brighten my day.
Hopefully they will brighten yours, too.

my kitchen table [link]
I often attribute my messiness to my being an artist.
However true or untrue that may be, I think it worked in my favor here.

vintage owls [link]
My friend, Cori Kindred, has an amazing collection of vintage owls.
This is my photograph of them...

eucalyptus pods [link]
I'm always drawn to the strangest pod or plant at the flower shop.
One Sunday, I stopped by my neighborhood shop and these were there-waiting for me to buy them.

Lovely prints by abby. She turned ordinary into extraordinary by capturing their essence.
Her main goal is "to provide a little beauty!" I love the fact that these are not digital photographs, they are, for most, taken with old analogue cameras like Yashica Tl Electro she owns. Maybe that's why the photographs have so much warmth to it. Plus, I liked the fact that there's masculine prints for those who feel flowers are too girly.

t.o earth quake

Toronto is all hyped up on the 5.5 magnitude earthquake happened today around 3pm.
I saw the shelves and light stand shake a bit but thought it was one of the guys getting organized in the back room when I was standing next to the gallery desk. It was so bizarre to hear it after the fact that it was actually an earthquake. wow.

Now Spacing has come up with a button (above) and some T-shirts (1, 2) are being printed to celebrate Toronto surviving the earthquake. I wonder if anyone is going to be printing 'I survived G20' T-shirts after the weekend.

lakeshore biking

It was raining today and couldn't bike to work.... so I took a my bike out for a ride down the lake. It was still damp but the sunset created gorgeous clouds (ah, wish I had brought my camera, sigh, iPhone has its limits).

This is one of the reasons why I love Toronto. I am not liking Toronto at this moment due to all of this G20 stuff going on.. but the calmness of the lake surely makes up for the eccentric security measures. I love biking down the lakeshore bike path to go to work, the view of the lake is .... simply astonishing.

It's been a long, hectic, stressful week, getting ready for the summer opening, but it was all worth it. At the same time, I was very excited to be part of something so great. I know it's going to be an awesome summer. I just can't wait!

Summer Visual Arts Exhibition, Combine
Summer Architectural Exhibition, Redux Park
Outdoor Photography Exhibition, Beyond Imaginings

Ontario Science Centre

It's been so long since I last went to the Ontario Science Centre.
It looked so familiar yet there were new stuff that excited me too.
I was quite happy to see the fabric fishes that were once part of Fishnet Project exhibition at Harbourfront Centre when I began working there. It brings back memories.... aaahhhh

Nice little bike ride along the high park path..
and I stumbled upon this little zoo.
It was very quiet when I went there, probably because it was around 9pm.
I got to hear peacocks cry... kinda sounded like a crying baby mixed with a cat.. weird..
Maybe I will take Milly out to see some new friends later... ;-D

high park walk

Milly is back!!!
My cute little baby <3
We took a long walk down the off leash path at high park.
It was the perfect weather for a long walk in the park.
After an hour long walk, Milly is exhausted...
resting on my netbook
so CUTE!!!!

cranfigcan oatmeal cookie

I went to my favourite cookie shop in the neighbourhood.
Sweet Flour Bake Shop
I can create a cookie the way I like and they mix and bake right then and there for you.
It is simply amazing and delish!
I ordered oatmeal base with cranberries, dried figs and pecans (yes, a healthy choice ;-D)

The fresh out of the oven cookie is warm and moist, though the baking time is brief so it is still bit doughy but I can't get my cranfigcan oatmeal cookie at a grocery store or local bakeshop. mmmmmmmm.
at $2.50 you get two toppings and $.30 per extra topping. It's worth it. It's a place where I visit when I need to give myself a treat!
