Dan Witz
I first saw these portraits here. It caught my attention instantly. In a dark background, a girl stares down at her cell phone. The faint light from the cell phone illuminates the girl's face, and her expression is lost as she text messages on her phone.
The light from cell phone in a dark place can make your face look very very scary.

But these portraits rather look calm, barricading themselves from the real world and are lost in the world inside of hand-held electronic devices. With the help of technology development, we are now living in a place that cannot function without computers, cell phones, mp3s, televisions, etc. As convenient as it made our life, it also took away the warmth of sharing and socializing in person.
I have an iPhone and ever since I got the data plan on my phone, I don't think I can live without it. It is simply the BEST! With the emergence of smart phones, talking on the phone is even less frequent than before, because texting is way cooler. lol. It doesn't occupy you like you'd talk on the phone and you can still have a conversation with your friends. Though texting can cause serious injuries so please avoid texting as you walk on streets, especially when you are crossing the road.
Witz's portraits are comical yet reflects how dependent we are on high-tech gadgets that our grandparents had never even thought of. He does a lot of street art, experimenting different medium and environment for his art abilities.
